I’ll be on a business trip very soon for a little while and I really don’t know the stand of my auto insurance policy here in Florida regarding rental vehicles. So what are my insurance options regarding rental vehicles?

There would be a lot of complications while making a decision as to rent a vehicle or not while you are on a business trip. You would need to identify first if your auto insurance policy in Florida covers any rental vehicle. If you have collision and comprehensive coverage on your policy, this would normally cover rental vehicle as well. You may very well check with your insurance company or might as well go over your policy about rental vehicle insurance. If you will be using a credit card to rent the vehicle, you may check with the credit card company covers the damage to the rental car.

Since you will be on a business trip, you may check first if your company has a corporate insurance coverage for renting a vehicle. Also, you have to be careful regarding the insurance laws of the various states. Insurance regulations in some states might only give coverage for a trip within the state. However, majority of the state will give you coverage so long as you drive in the United States. Lastly, make sure that you won’t let any other person drive the rental vehicle. Rental vehicle providers are very particular on the people who drive their vehicle and might not provide coverage for another driver except if other people who will driver are listed on the rental contract.
