Getting Cheaper Teenage Driver Auto Insurance in Florida
Reader’s Question:
Why are car insurance rates for teenagers just so high? My daughter just got her Learner’s permit here in Clearwater, Florida and apparently it will cost an arm and a leg to get her own car insurance policy.

Hi Jared, There are a lot of people out there who are as confused as you are as to why teenagers costs so much to provide car insurance for. Truth be told, almost all auto insurance providers view teenage drivers as a riskier segment of the driving population. Their reasons are valid. Statistically, it shows that a great deal of teenagers get involved, injured or even killed in car accidents more frequently, more so than the rest of the age brackets for other drivers. This can be attributed to teenage drivers lacking driving experience or the necessary skills, less developed judgment and even raging hormones. The riskier the driver the more an insurance company would want to protect its business in the form of costlier insurance rates.
Don’ lose hope though, just because you have a teenager driver doesn’t mean you will have to live with high insurance bills. Its almost always cheaper for a parent to add their teenagers under their existing car insurance coverage, as compared to having them get their own . Students who excel in school also get to qualify for good student discounts towards their car insurance. Enrolling your daughter in accredited defensive driving schools there in Clearwater, Florida would not only give you further discounts towards your rates, it will also teach your daughter valuable skills in keeping herself, and everyone else, safe while on the road.
